Our mission

Bottles of Hope was built by young people wanting change the access of energy where it is most needed.

Our aims and aspirations

Over the years, our research has shown solar lamps are needed by people in Asia regardless of social status, as the likelihood of power cuts are increasing across the globe with the severity of climate change. We aim to educate people on the power of solar energy and in turn relieve those of energy poverty with sustainable light.

We aim to solve global issues through one Bottle of Hope:

1. Create employment opportunities,

2. Decrease air and waste pollution around the world,

3. Reduce the number of kerosene lamps and paraffin candles,

4. Provide light to people during the power loss of monsoon seasons.

The impact of Bottles of Hope on our students at Udhavi has been seen in several areas. It improves their hand eye coordination, attention span, self confidence and self worth with every student receiving a wage.

ongoing research

There has been vast academic research on the positive socio-economic impacts that solar energy has on communities. These impacts can be economic through providing more time for income-generating activities, health benefits, educational improvement through better light sources and female empowerment.

Fuel collection is largely the responsibility of women in Asia and sometimes they have to travel far for biomass fuel. Through reducing fuel collection responsibilities more time is made for factors contributing to a higher living standard.
